Care and Maintenance

Due to the nonporous surface of the finish, there is no need to use abrasive cleansers. Any household liquid detergent will give excellent results. To remove mineral stains use a mild acid solution such as liquid toilet bowl cleaner.

Here are some good cleansers to use:

Lysol® Basin Tub & Tile Cleaner | DOW® Bathroom Cleaner | Mr. Clean® | Fantastik®

With proper cleaning and bathtub maintenance you will have a long lasting shine.

We recommend regular dishwashing soap and a soft cloth, 409, simple green or fantastic. Do Not Use Chlorine, Bleach, Ammonia, Acids, or Abrasives, Acids toilet bowl cleaners of Bleach, Comet, Ajax, any product not recommended by EZ Bathtub Refinishing should not be used in the cleaning of the refinished surface.

Cleaning a refinished bathtub requires some extra care to avoid damaging the new finish. Follow these instructions to clean a refinished bathtub safely:

  1. Check the manufacturer's instructions: Before cleaning a refinished bathtub, refer to the manufacturer's instructions or any specific guidelines provided by the refinisher. Some refinished bathtubs may have specific cleaning requirements or restrictions that you need to follow.

  2. Gather the necessary supplies:
    • Rubber gloves
    • Mild, non-abrasive cleaner (check if there are any recommended brands or types)
    • Soft sponge or cloth
    • Microfiber cloth or towel
    • Avoid using harsh or abrasive cleaners, as they can damage the refinished surface.

  3. Put on rubber gloves: Protect your hands with rubber gloves to avoid direct contact with cleaning agents.

  4. Test a small area: Before applying any cleaning solution to the entire surface, test it on a small, inconspicuous area of the refinished bathtub. This test will ensure that the cleaning product doesn't harm or degrade the finish.

  5. Clean with a mild, non-abrasive cleaner: Apply a small amount of the mild cleaner to a soft sponge or cloth. Gently scrub the surface of the refinished bathtub, working in circular motions. Avoid using excessive force or abrasive materials that could scratch or damage the finish.

  6. Rinse thoroughly: After cleaning, rinse the entire surface of the bathtub thoroughly with warm water. Ensure that no cleaning residue remains on the refinished surface.

  7. Dry the bathtub: Use a microfiber cloth or towel to dry the refinished bathtub completely. Make sure to remove any moisture to prevent water spots or streaks.

  8. Avoid abrasive tools or cleaners: Do not use abrasive tools such as scouring pads, steel wool, or harsh chemicals like bleach or ammonia. These can scratch or damage the refinished surface.

  9. Regular maintenance: To keep your refinished bathtub looking its best, practice regular maintenance. Clean up any spills or stains promptly to prevent them from setting and becoming more difficult to remove. Use mild cleaners recommended for refinished surfaces and follow the manufacturer's guidelines.

  10. By following these instructions and taking care to use gentle, non-abrasive cleaners, you can maintain the beauty and durability of your refinished bathtub for years to come.
